Martela Kilta

Mannermaa’s “Kilta” became the standard office chair in 1955. Originally its form was made from wood, but in 1958 it became Finland’s first plastic chair. Already in wooden veneer form, Kilta won a gold medal for design at Finland’s national fair in 1955.

Although offices have changed, the Kilta chair has survived the test of time. In the early 2000s, Kilta chairs are still sought after as vintage design products, as well as second edition chairs offered by Martela. This ergonomically successful chair with a soothing design language remains a classic.
